Follow Friday~Disasters in our Past

Many of us have ancestors that have perished in disasters here within the United States. We learn of these disasters through family folklore and by reading old newspapers of the time era.

I have found a wonderful website that has cataloged many of these disasters and you can browse by Disasters Type, By State and By Year. There is a brief summary of the accident along with names of victims for each disasters.

The web site is:

There is also a section of the site that lists disasters that have occurred in Canada.

My background is military aviation and jet engine power plant manufacturing and I use this site quite often to find references to past aviation accidents.

Take a look; you might find one of your past ancestors listed in an early disasters throughout the United States and Canada.

My first experience on a military aviation crash site was this accident in 1965. It was the first of many more to come throughout my career in the Air Force.
