Great Great Grandpa William A. Purvis purchased these 60 acres from James L. Edwards on December 21, 1871. On September 28, 1883, William A. and Sarah Jane, his wife, sold these 60 acres to Jefferson D. Rhine. At one time, William A. Purvis owned a total of 145 acres of land. By September 1899, it had all been sold off and Jefferson D. Rhine was successfully in acquiring most of the land. Great Great Grandpa Purvis died shortly thereafter.
