Obituary Sunday–Mrs. A. B. Hursey


Miss Timantha “Timmie”  White, daughter of Alfred L. White and Caroline Elisabeth Smith married the Rev. Archibald Boyd Hursey in 1861 according to the 1900 census. 1

Timmie White Hursey died on the 23rd of May 1919 (SC Death Certificate 9524). 2

Mrs. A. B. Hursey, widow of the late A. B. Hursey, died at the home of her son, Mr. A. W. Hursey, last Thursday night and was buried the following Friday afternoon at the Chesterfield Cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, the Rev. J. H. Hildreth.
Mrs. Hursey was about 77 years of age and was the mother of four sons, and three daughters, as follows, A. W. Hursey, John G. Hursey (deceased); Sidney D., and Frank; Mrs. Albert Moore of Pageland, and Mrs. F. W. Weaver and Mrs. Thompson, ??? now live in North Carolina. The sorrowing family have the sympathy of the community. (Note: very light and blurry.)3

The short death notice that was printed in “The State”, Columbia, SC was little different.

Chesterfield, May 25.—Mrs. A. B. Hursey died here Friday morning of pneumonia. She had been ill for several weeks when pneumonia set in. Mrs,. Hursey was 85 years old.

Mrs. A. B. (Timmie White) Hursey was buried in the Chesterfield Cemetery on 23 May 1919.5
