Oct. 29 – 52 Ancestors: #44, Louise Ellen (Sellers) Brock

Amy Johnson Crow of No Story To Small has started a challenge of 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks.

From her blog “The challenge: have one blog post each week devoted to a specific ancestor. It could be a story, a biography, a photograph, an outline of a research problem — anything that focuses on one ancestor. Not only should this get me blogging more, but also to take a deeper look at some of the people in my family tree.”

The focus of my blog post today is Louise Ellen (Sellers) Brock.

Louise Ellen Sellers was born in Jun 1850 in Madison County, Tennessee.1 2 3 4 5 6 7 She was the daughter of William Eddins Sellers and Elizabeth (Parsons) Sellers.
Louise Ellen and her older sister Mary Abigail were siblings in a household with 3 brothers; William Riley, Andrew Washington, and James Arnold “Buck”  Sellers. Another brother, Alonzo W., passed away at age 6.

The children lost their father (William Eddins Sellers) at a very young age when he was killed in Madison County Tennessee about 1854. Family tradition says he was helping to build a church  when he fell from the rafters sustaining  fatal injuries. To date I have not been able to find any information on this accident.

The family was enumerated in the 1850 census for Madison County, Tennessee

SELLERS, Son, age 4, born in TN; Mary A. SELLERS, Daughter, age 2, born in TN and Luellen SELLERS, Daughter, age 1/12, born in TN.

After the death of her husband, Elizabeth (Parsons) Sellers packed up her 6 children and moved them back to Chesterfield.
