Chesterfield County SC Estates~Estate Folder #371–Kinchen Privett.

 

This is a new series of posting, appearing every Sunday, on selected Estate Folders from the Estate files of Chesterfield County. No known estates exist for the period before the Civil War. They were destroyed with the burning of the Courthouse. There are a few “Equity Records” in the State Archives. Do not overlook this valuable resources if you are looking for ancestors in Chesterfield County, South Carolina.

Kinchen Previtt, in his Last Will and Testament appointed his friend George R. Boatwright as the executor of his estate.

Desire that my friend George F. Boatwright act as
My executor and see to carrying out the provisions
of this my last Will and Testament. I hereby
 
George declined to accept the appointment as executor of the estate and Thomas F. Mulloy petitioned the Courts to be appointed estate administrator.

And creditors of the said Kinchen Privett…………………………………………….
Deceased, that they be and appear before me, in the Court of Probate, to be held at
Chesterfield Court House……..on 30th January next, after publication
hereof, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, to shew cause, if any they have, why the said
Administration should not be granted.

At the time Kinchen wrote his Will on 3 November 1871 he left his estate to the children of his deceased daughter Sarah Jane Tucker and wife Mary Privett.

Appointed as Appraisers of the goods and chattel were Michael Davis, W. A. Davis, A. J. Davis and M. B. Davis. Possessions were inventoried and appraised.

Purchasers at the estate sale were Jane Tucker, George Boatwright, C. White, W.A. Davis, E. B. Davis, Ben Rivers, T. B. Teal, M. Davis, James Ross. Fred Davis and many others.  The estate file consists of  29 images.
