Chesterfield County SC Estates~Estate Folder #860~Mike Brock.


This is a new series of posting, appearing every Sunday, on selected Estate Folders from the Estate files of Chesterfield County. No known estates exist for the period before the Civil War. They were destroyed with the burning of the Courthouse. There are a few “Equity Records” in the State Archives. Do not overlook this valuable resources if you are looking for ancestors in Chesterfield County, South Carolina.

Michael Hezekiah 'Mike’ Brock, son of Hezekiah Brock and Sarah ‘Sallie’ Morris died January 2, 1927 in Pageland South Carolina.


Mike left surviving him seven children; 4 sons and 3 daughters. His wife Timmie Smith had died approximately 5 years earlier on 15 April 1922. He also left a small estate valued at less than $500.00. 

His son Willie (William Thomas) Brock petitioned the Court on 4 January 1927 to take control of the estate and to handle the probate of said estate.

In Re, State of Mike Brock,}
Under and by virtue of Act# No. 59, Statutes of 1925, who which makes it the duty of the Probate Judge to take charge of all personal estates of Five Hundred Dollars or less,
And it appearing to the Court by the petition of Willie Brock that the personal estate of Mike Brock is less than Five Hundred Dollars,
I have taken charge of said personal estate and all money and all other personal property is now in my hands as Probate Judge.
And it is so ordered.

The most significant document in the folder is the one naming the surviving Heir at Law. They were:
  • Willie Brock, son
  • Mrs. Sallie Jackson, daughter
  • May Brock, son
  • Frank Brock, son
  • Mrs. Kizzie Miles, daughter
  • Mrs. Fannie Miles, daughter
  • Pleas Brock, son
Mike Brock - heirs at law

Mike and Timmie had one other daughter, Winnie J., born 2 Nov. 1890, died 12 July 1895.


Michael Hezekiah “Mike’ Brock,  is my Great Grand Uncle.
