Amanuensis Monday is a genealogy blogging theme. It was started by John Newmark who writes the TransylvanianDutch blog.

His definition of Amanuensis is:
Amanuensis: A person employed to write what another dictates or to copy what has been written by another.

Today’s subject is a Chesterfield County Land Deed, Anna J. Douglass and Eliza Odom to William J. Odom.

My research, reading, and analysis of this land deed suggest that John Dwight Odom and Sarah Ann Freeman had three children. Anna Jane Douglass, Eliza Odom, and William John Odom.

Sarah Ann Freeman Odom died on 21 June 1882. John Dwight Odom passed away on 13 May 1889. This land deed (10:423-425) was recorded on 11 September 1890.

It’s clear that Anna Jane (Odom) Douglass and Eliza Odom are conveying their interests in their Father’s property to their brother William John Odom.

However, John Dwight Odom and Sarah Ann Freeman were married about 1856. I have found no record in the 1860, 1870 or 1880 Census that lists a daughter Eliza Odom. Anna Jane is listed in 1860 and 1870;  William John is listed in 1870 and  1880.

The Odom children are my 2nd Cousins 3 times removed.
