Heirs of Elisha Parker

This Land Deed is excellent example of the value of Land Deeds in genealogical research. Within this one page document we have named 8 heirs to the property of Elisha Parker.

Land deeds are often overlooked in our search for ancestors. Our focus is on acquiring data and places from such documents as birth, death and marriage certificates; newspapers and obituaries. Seldom do we focus our search on the ownership of property and what happen to that property when our ancestor passed away.

I would like to suggest to you that one of your primary stops should be at the Register of Deeds Office, for your County or parish. On your first visit, your focus should be on the SURNAME INDEX for both the GRANTOR & GRANTEE Books.
