Louvena Huneycutt Deese



Louvena Huneycutt was born on 10 Nov 1857 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of James W. Huneycutt and Sarah Elizabeth Page. She died on 16 Oct 1889 at the age of 32 in Lilesville, Anson, North Carolina. She was buried at Cedar Creek Meeting House Cemetery in Lilesville, Anson, North Carolina. [1]

Louvena Huneycutt and John Calvin Deese were married on 9 Apr 1884 in Lilesville, Anson, North Carolina. John Calvin Deese, son of Samuel Deese and Sarah Hill, was born on 10 Nov 1854 in Anson County, North Carolina. He signed his will on 14 Mar 1908 in Wadesboro, Anson, North Carolina.[2]  John Calvin died on 2 Apr 1930 at the age of 76 and was buried on 3 Apr 1930 at Morven Cemetery in Morven, Anson, North Carolina.[3] [4]

John Calvin Deese and Louvena Huneycutt had the following children:

          i.        Lucy Pearl "Pearly" Deese, born 17 Jan 1885, Morven, Anson, North Carolina; married James Francis Purvis, bef 14 Mar 1908; died 23 Apr 1970, Cordova, Richmond County, North Carolina.
          ii.       Theresa Sara "Fleeter" Deese, born 8 Feb 1887, Morven, Anson, North Carolina; married Ruben Thomas Phillips, abt 1911; died 8 Feb 1925, Morven, Anson, North Carolina.
          iii.      Etta M. Deese, born 3 Feb 1888, Morven, Anson, North Carolina; married Emanual Leach Kirk, 1905 or 1909, Stanly County, North Carolina; married Alsey Oscar Hopkins; died 25 Feb 1982, Albemarle, Stanly County, North Carolina.
          iv.      Louvena Deese was born on 15 Oct 1889 in Lilesville, Anson, North Carolina. She died on 16 Oct 1890 at the age of 1 in Lilesville and was buried on 17 Oct 1890 at Cedar Creek Meeting House cemetery with her Mother.



Louvena Huneycutt Deese is my great grandmother. Her baby, with her namesake, is buried beside her at Cedar Creek Cemetery. Sadly, the tombstone of my great grandmother has been damaged since I last visited the grave-site.
