John Flowers Tombstone

I have not researched John Flowers. His grave was found while I and my wife’s cousin was out looking for cemeteries in Anson County. In 1850, his two younger sons, Benjamin and Abner are living in the same household with John.

In 1860, Abner is married and John, his father, is living in the household of Abner and his wife Martha with three small children, 9 months to 7 years of age. Abner Flowers married Martha Jane Liles on 6 November 1851. She died in 1861 and Abner married Martha A. Stanton.

His son's, Abner Flowers tombstone is less than a mile from where this one is located.

On Monday, 28 January 2002, MT and I found the location of Abner Flowers burial and copied his tombstone. The tombstone is broken from the base. It is a very large stone about 1 foot by 1 foot square and approximately 33 inched long. It was all I could do to roll it over from face down position so I could copy the data from the stone. Abner was born 19 April 1829 and died 25 Feb 1902. I do not have a photo of Abner’s tombstone.
