Surname Saturday~Mary aka "Polly", Daughter, Thomas Davis

This is an ongoing series on the children of Thomas Davis and his wife Nancy Rivers. Thomas Davis and Nancy Rivers are my 4th great grandparents. They had 11 known children that lived to adulthood.

This is a summary of the articles on Thomas, Samuel, William, Susannah, Isaac Jacob, Hulda, Jonathan Daniel, Elizabeth Rebecca and Sarah Jane Davis. 


Thus far, we have taken a look at 9 of the 11 children of Thomas and Nancy Rivers Davis. Those nine are Samuel, William, Susannah, Isaac Jacob, Hulda, Jonathan Daniel, Elizabeth Rebecca, Sarah Jane and Michael Davis. 

Today’s posting is on child number 10 – Mary “Polly” Davis, My 3rd Grand Aunt.

Mary "Polly" Davis was born on 25 Jun 1808 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.1 2 3 4 5 6 She was the tenth child of Thomas and Nancy Rivers and their youngest of five daughters.

Mary “Polly” Davis never married. In 1860 and 1880 she was living in the household of her brother Michael Davis and his wife Hulda Rivers Davis.

She died on 20 May 1890 at the age of 81 and was buried at Zoar United Methodist Church Cemetery in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.7 8 A Memorial has been created for Polly at www.findagrave.com.9
