Obituary Sunday~ Dr. Jeptha S. Brock Dies
Dr. Jeptha S.Brock, son of Valentine Brock and Bethany Thaney Ginn, died 7 October 1914. Jeptha was born Dec. 15, 1854 in Washington Parish, Louisiana. His grandparents, James L. Brock and Elizabeth Purvis migrated from Chesterfield County, South Carolina through Georgia, Alabama and on to Mississippi and Louisiana about 1820.
Dr. Jeptha married Susan Alvaline Holmes on Dec. 7, 1874 in Brockdale, Louisiana.
Dr. J. S. Brock, of Warrenton, father of our esteemed physician, Dr. J. L. Brock died on Wednesday afternoon at five o’clock after an illness lasting thru all this year. Interment is to take place in the family burying ground this afternoon at three o’clock.[1] [The Era-Leader, October 08, 1914, Image 3, col 2]
Dr. and Mrs. J. L. Brock, Mr. and Mrs. J. Vol Brock and J. S. Brock, Jr., motored to Warnerton Sunday to see Dr. J. S. Brock who is still lingering in a very critical condition. [The Era-Leader, October 08, 1914, Image 3, col 1]
Dr. and Mrs. A. J. Fortinberry and son Sheldon and Mr. Thompson of Scalon spent several hours here Wednesday as they motored thru to Warnerton to visit their Uncle Dr. J. S. Brock. [The Era-Leader, October 08, 1914, Image 3, col 3]
