Today’s posting is a Land Deed between Edmond Kite and Benjamin Hendrick of Chesterfield County, South Carolina. 


 



----------------No. 228) This indenture made the 30^th day of November in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and seventy two between Edmond Kite and Jean his wife of Craven County & province of South Carolina of the one part and Benjamin Hendrick of the county & province aforesaid of the other part witnessth that he the said Edmund Kite and jean his wife for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred pounds currency of the said province to him in hand paid by the said Benjamin Hendrick the receipt whereof the said Edmond

162 Kite and Jean his wife doth doth <sic> hereby acknowledge and every part and parcel thereof doth discharge the said Benjamin Hendrick his heirs & have given granted bargained sold aliened enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell alien enfeoff and confirm unto the said Benjamin Hendrick his heirs and assigns foe ever al that tract of land and situate lying and being in the province and County aforesaid on Thomsons Creek containing three hundred acres granted to the said Edmund Kite by grant under the great seal of the sais province bearing date the fifth day of September one thousand seven hundred and fifty bounded as follows beginning at a gum on the north side of Thomsons creek thence north East by Thomas Boatwright line to Red oak thence South East by vacant land and Jeams Mathis to a pine Stake thence South west by vacant land to a pine Stake thence north west by vacant land to pine thence South west by Jacob Johnsons to a Stake thence north east to Jacob Johnsons to a white oak thence north west to the beginning as by a plat their there annexed may more plainly appear with all the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents services thereof and all the estate right title interest property claim and demands whatsoever and every part and parcel thereof To Have and to hold the said tract and parcel of land and promises

above mentioned with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said Benjamin Hendrick 163 his heirs & assigns and to the only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said Benjamin Hendreick his heirs and assigns for ever and the said Edmond Kite and Jean his wife for themselves their heirs ex’rs adm.’s doth covenant and agree to and with the said Benjamin Hendrick his heirs & assigns shall and will warrant and for ever defend against then lawfull claim of any person or persons or persons whatsoever freely and clearly discharge of all former grants bargains sails <sic> leases dowers or any other incumbrance whatsoever freely and clearly discharge of all former grants bargains sales leases dowers or any other incumbrance whatsoever and shall and will at anytime hereafter at the request of him the said Benjamin Hendrick his heirs and assigns make and execute such further conveyance or conveyances for the better securing the title and property of the said land and premisses hereby granted with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said Benjamin Hendrick his heirs and assigns as by his or their council learned in the law shall be reasonably or equitably required and furthermore that he the said Edmond Kite and Jean his wife at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents stands seiz’d of an indefeasibly right in fee simple in and unto the said three hundred acres of land hereby granted with the appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise appurtaining and hath right full power and

Craven County South Carolina Personally appeared before John Perkins one of his majesty’s justices of the ye peace in sd County John Huggins one of the subscribing evidence (to the within Deed [inserted) who being duly sworn jumbles mess [Strikethrough, illegible] on the ye holy Evangelist of almighty god deposeth that he was present and with the ye other subscribing evidence and did see Sd Edmond Kite and Jean his wife sign within mentioned sign seal and deliver as their act and deed the within deed to Benjamin Hendrick for ye use intents and purposes therein mentioned and Joseph Mutrie the other subscribing evidence signd it also Sworn before me this 22d day of May Anno Dom 1773 Jn^o Perkins Recorded and examined the 17^th day of February 1784 by D^e. Mazyck Register
