Carmen Myers was born on 2 May 1816 in Lawrence County, Mississippi Territory.¹ He appeared in the census in 1840 and 1850 Census for Scott County, Mississippi.^2 3  In 1860 and 1870 Carmen appears in the census for Rankin County, Mississippi.^4 5 He died on 20 Jan 1871 at the age of 54 in Rankin County, Mississippi.^6 7
 
Carmen Myers and Martha Ann Purvis were married on 7 Mar 1838. Martha Ann Purvis, the daughter of William Purvis and Millie Cook, was born on 22 Aug 1819 in Scott, MS.^{8 9 10 11 12} She died on 20 Jan 1871 at the age of 51 in Rankin County, Mississippi.^13 14

2 i. Artemecia Myers, born 22 Dec 1838, Smith County, Mississippi; married Daniel Goodman Miley Jr.; died 20 Dec 1919, Rankin County, Mississippi.
ii. Francis Marion "Frank" Myers was born about 1840 in Rankin County, Mississippi. ¹⁵ He was Killed in Action at Battle of Antietam/Battle of Sharpsburg on 17 Sep 1862 at the age of 22.
3 iii. Mary Elizabeth Myers, born 31 Dec 1841, Scott Co., MS; married Daniel Miley Dukes; died 20 Nov 1906, Smith County, Mississippi.
iv. Shadrack Myers was born about 1843 in Smith County, Mississippi. ^{16 17} He died on 6 Apr 1862 at the age of 19 in Shiloh, Hardin Co., TN.
v. Daniel Morgan Myers was born on 25 Mar 1845 in Scott Co., MS. ^{18 19} He died on 15 Mar 1885 at the age of 39 in Smith County, Mississippi.
vi. Julia Ann Myers was born about 1846 in Smith County, Mississippi. She died died young. Julie was listed in 1850 Census but missing for the 1860 Census.
4 vii. John Mills Myers, born 9 Mar 1849, Smith County, Mississippi; married Sara Jane Holbrooks, 1871; married Alice Stevens, 15 Jun 1880; died abt 1933, Rankin County, Mississippi.
5 viii. James Monroe Myers, born 2 Nov 1851, Rankin County, Mississippi; married Sarah Frances Tullos; died 1913. She was very young when they married.
ix. Burnette Myers was born about 1853. ²⁰ She died died young sometime after 18 Jun 1860 at the age of 7.
6 x. Lawrence Lafayette Myers, born 2 Dec 1858, Rankin County, Mississippi; married Ada Virginia Fortenberry; died 17 May 1921, Magee, Simpson Co., MS.
xi. ²¹ Samuel Robert Myers was born about 1861 in Rankin County, Mississippi. ²² He appeared in the census in 1880. He owned .
xii. Adeline Myers died died young.
 
  Earlier this week I was notify by FTDNA Family Finder that I had a match with a descendant of Carmen Myers and Martha Ann Purvis. My Purvis line has been a major “brickwall” line. This new DNA evidence/information has given me hope that soon I will make major advancement in this line.
