Elizabeth Davis Previtt is my 2nd Great Grandmother on the paternal side of the family. 

Elizabeth Davis is the daughter of Michael Davis and Hulda Rivers. Elizabeth was born about 1841, the 3rd child of nine (9) to be born to Michael & Hulda Davis. She is listed as age 9 in the 1850 Population Census for Chesterfield County, South Carolina. ¹

Elizabeth married John Washington Previtt about 1856. This is based on the birth of their first born, a son on 30 June 1857. ²

John was the son of William Previtt and his wife Catherine. He was born 3 November 1824; so he was 17 years older then his new bride when they were married about 1856; he was 32 years old and she was just 15 years old. Nevertheless, they remained married until the death of Elizabeth in February 1900 raising a family of 11 children; 6 sons and 5 daughters. ³

John died 19 May 1913 and was buried beside his beloved in Zoar Church Cemetery. ⁴
