Son of John M. Sellers & Jerusha Ann Smith Sellers. Cpl CO C 8th SC Infantry CSA. Married Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Hurst. Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Hurst Sellers is buried here. No marker for her except the new memorial marker.

The above Headstone Applications for Military Veterans, 1925-1963 shows that Samuel died in July 1887. This may be so, but after many years of research this is the only document I have found that shows a death date for Samuel Joseph Sellers.3

Note that this application was made in August 1932, forty-five (45) years after the death of Samuel Joseph Sellers. More research is definitely required before accepting this date as the date of death for Samuel Joseph Sellers.
