S. J. SELLERS DIES AT HOME AT RUBY

CHESTERFIELD, Feb, 12. – S. J. Sellers of Ruby one of the most widely known politicians in this part of the county died last night after a brief illness. Mr. Sellers’ death is felt with profound sorrow by every one who knew him and his sudden-death cast a gloom over the entire county. Mr. Sellers has always been connected with politics in the county and was formerly a member of the House of Representatives. Mr. Sellers was 67 years old and all his life had been actively engaged in the brokerage business in Ruby. He is survived by his widow, 11 children and a brother, all of this county.
Samuel Joseph Sellers, Jr. was born in 1861 to Samuel Joseph Sellers, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” Hurst. He married Martha Ellen Sellers in 1893; to this union was born 12 children, 6 sons and 6 daughters.
Samuel Joseph Sellers, Jr. served in the House of Representatives in 1922 (75th General Assembly) and shortly thereafter on 11 February 1927 he died at his home in Ruby, South Carolina.
