Jesse Gwyn Boatwright, Jr. was the only child of Jesse Gwyn Boatwright, Sr. and Mary Isabel Watts. Jesse died in an automobile accident on 2 September 1946.2 Family folklore reports that he was with his cousin Bobby J. Purvis. I haven’t located the newspaper article for the accident that took Jesse Gwyn life but I’m still looking.

Jesse Gwyn Boatwright, Jr.

Jesse served in the Army during WWII. He enlisted 28 January 1846 and was discharged on 30 April 1946. His enlistment records shows he enlisted for the Panama Canal Department.3

He is buried along with his parents in the Morven Cemetery, Anson County, North Carolina.

  1. It is very sad that Jesse made it through the war and then died in an automobile accident.
