James Francis “Jim” Purvis is my Grandfather. He passed away before I was born.but I have many relatives that knew him before he passed away. The last years of his life were not good ones and he was bed ridden during  that time.  He suffered from Hemiplegia from January 15, 1933 till his demise on 21 February 1946 according to his South Carolina Death certificate #1983.1

Mr. Purvis was 50 years of age, a life long farmer of Anson county and was a good husband and father; and was kind to his fellow-man. He will be greatly missed in his family and community. He is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. W. J.  Purvis, who are both invalids, his wife…2

Grandpa Jim and Grandma Pearly had seven children of which their last born, a daughter, was stillborn; three sons and three daughters survived.

James Frances Purvis was buried on 22 February 1936 in the Morven Cemetery, Morven, Anson County, North Carolina.
