Treasure Chest Thursday~Marriage License Samuel Atkinson and Lecty Huneycutt
Lecty Huneyctt is the baby daughter of my 2nd Great Grandparents, James W. Huneycutt and Sarah Elizabeth “Salle” Page Huneycutt. Lecty is my Great Grand Aunt.
In the 1910 Census for Stanly County, NC, she is married to Samuel Atkinson and has two children in their household. In the Census it’s reported that they had been married for 9 years and had 3 children, 2 living. So for many years my database fact for Lecty and Samuel marriage has been, “Married abt 1901, Stanly County, North Carolina.”
The search for their marriage license has been ongoing for years and this past week I was successful in finding their Marriage License in Anson County, North Carolina.
Samuel Atkinson and Lecty Huneycutt were married on 8 May 1902 by Justice of the Peace D. A. McGregor at Wadesboro, Anson County, North Carolina.
Witnesses were: John H. Eddins and Dan Sanders. Zack Deese applied for license for the couple. Zack Deese is the brother of John Calvin and Henry Harrison that married Lecty sisters Louvena and Nellie Isabelle Huneycutt.
