Treasure Chest Thursday~Marriage of Phillip A. Sellers and Sarah Jarman


Phillip A. Sellers and Sarah “Sallie” Jarman were married on 22 December 1889 at her Father’s home in the Gulledge Township of Anson County, North Carolina. Seven years later, Phillip passed away on 11 April 1896. 1 2

During the seven years that Phillip and Sallie were married they had three children. They were:
  • Robert Earl Sellers, b. 7 Nov 1891
  • David Manley Sellers, b. 4 Sept. 1893,
  • William Arnold Sellers, b. 4 July 1895

Justice of the Peace for Anson County
1 D. J. Neal having applied to me for a licensee for
Marriage of 2 Phillip A. Sellers of Anson County, age 3 26 years
Color White, the son of 5 David Sellers and 6       Sellers
The father now 7 Dead, the Mother 8 living resident of 9 Anson County
And 10 Sallie Jarman of Anson County, aged 11 19 years
Color 12 white, daughter of 13 J. R. Jarman and 14 Mary A. Jarman
The Father 16 living, the mother 16 living, resident of 17 Anson County.
And the written consent of the said to the proposed marriage having

And there being no legal impediment to such marriage known to me, you are hereby authorized, at any time within one year from the date hereof, to celebrate the proposed marriage at any place within the said County of Anson.
You are require within two months after you have celebrated such marriage, to return this license to me, at my office, with your signatures subscribed to the certificate under this License and with the blanks therein filled according to the facts, under penalty of forfeiting two hundred dollars to the use of any person who shall sue for the same.
