Jesse E. Smith
Induction into Military 29 July 1918

Jesse E. Smith date of death is shown as 26 October 1918 on his tombstone above. I was unsuccessful in finding any supporting documents or sources for his death other than the date shown here on his tombstone. 1 2

I have been told that Jesse Edmond Smith became sick and died while stationed in Florida. As a result of his service, his mother drew his insurance and when she died the benefits were split between his surviving siblings. The benefits amounting to approximately  $8/monthly helped to sustain the family during the Depression.
