Pvt. Charles David Boan was a son of Christopher Boan and his wife Mary Therrell. Charles, age 17, enlisted into the Army on Dec. 20, 1861 at Chesterfield, South Carolina. He  was wounded (Gun Shot wound of Right Elbow) on 10 July 1863 on Morris Island, Captured, and admitted to General Hospital at Hilton Head. He was exchanged (paroled) on 24 July 1863.1

After the war, in 1866, Charles David Boan married Florence ‘Flora” Boan, daughter of John L. P. Boan. 2


Charles and Flora raised a large family. He passed away on 23 April 1925 at 80 years of age. His devoted wife lived another 18 months passing away in November 1926.3
