42091_327568-01475 (2)

On 18 February 1912 Nona Rowena Smith and John A. High were married in Wadesboro, Anson County, North Carolina by J. H. Benton, Justice of the Peace. Nona Rowena, age 28,  was the daughter of J. Frank Smith and M. Dora Sellers. John A., age 35, was the son of James High and Rosa Sikes.

John was previously married before marrying Nona in February 1912 and brought 3 young children into the marriage.

I have documented three children for John and Nona – Mary,  Johnnie and Perline; there may be others that I am unaware of in their family. Nona Rowena passed away in 1933 and six years later on 30 November 1939 John passed away in Georgetown, South Carolina.

John and Nona Rowena  are buried at Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lilesville, Anson County, North Carolina.
