Sunday’s Obituary~Mrs. Sallie Rivers


Mrs. Sallie Rivers, widow of the late Mallie Rivers, passed away Saturday night at her home in the Hopewell section. Mrs. Rivers was nearly ninety years of age and had been in a helpless condition for several weeks. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at Hopewell Baptist Church, by her pastor, Rev. Luther Knight, who was assisted by her former pastor, Rev. D. A. Brown. The deceased is mourned by one daughter, Mrs. Jim Sullivan, who is living in Florida, and the following sons; Hadley and Coy, of Hopewell; B. R. of Columbia, Kirby of Shiloh, Miles of Albemarle, and one brother, J. M. Rivers, of Chesterfield. She also leaves a number of Grandchildren and great-grandchildren.1

Sarah 'Sallie' Boatwright Rivers was a daughter of Malachi Rivers and Sarah Ann Boatwright. She was born 8 March 1848 and died 28 June 1931.
