Daniel Boan is a real mystery and almost all that is known of him is recorded by my friend, cousin and genealogist Sharon F. Corey on his FindAGrave Memorial.

Daniel was twice married; first to Sarah Gulledge. To this union were born two daughters. Next, he married Susannah Virginia Horne in January 1875 and together they had 3 children, one son and two daughters.

The monument above at Elizabeth Baptist Church represents his service in Co. H, 1st SC Infantry during the Civil War. Daniel is not buried in this cemetery plot. Marie Gulledge Wiggins told me that both Daniel and Sallie were buried on their farm near Ruby, South Carolina.

Sarah ‘Sallie’ Gulledge Boan died about 1874 and Daniel Boan died on 21 January 1891 at the age of 76 years.
