Treasure Chest Thursday~Some Chesterfield County Resources, Some Lesser Known

There are many newcomers doing Chesterfield County genealogical research that may not be aware of some of the lesser known genealogical resources. I will list several that you may not be aware of and a few that should be well known.

1. The Elizabeth Baptist Church Minutes, 1825-1919
Elizabeth Baptist Church Minutes

Several noted genealogist/family historians were instrumental in getting this document produced, printed and on-line. Notable among the group is Miss Elizabeth Burch who supplied the minutes, Marie Gulledge Wiggins who transcribed the minutes in July 1887, Kathy W. Lowery who used OCR and produced the digital document that enabled James & Julia Pigg to post the minutes on his website (Website is no longer on-line).

2. Rev Aaron Weaver Knight Journal, 1810-1921

REVEREND AARON WEAVER KNIGHT JOURNAL
Begun by Rev. Aaron Weaver Knight (1810 - 8 Jul 1888) and ended by his son, Rev. Sidney Thomas Knight (1 Dec 1846 - 28 Aug 1921). 1

As in the case above, several noted genealogist/family historians were instrumental in getting this document produced, printed and on-line. Their contributions are outlined in the introduction of the document but among those producing this document were: Janie E. Jowers, Edna Holtzclaw and Alma Jowers Baker. Hough entries provided by Mrs. Harold (Elizabeth Pitts) Hough.
  • The journal has been printed by the Carolinas Genealogical Society.
