Possible Record Matches in Purvis-Johns Family Tree~Charles Dorr/Dry

Received an e-mail today stating that I have 5 new hints available for my on-line tree. Three of these hints were photo hints relating to my Dry ancestors.

To my surprise one hint was a photo from page 5 of the Rowan County, NC estate file for Christoph[er] Rintelmann dated 1779.  My thanks goes out to A. Vint who found this document. I have displayed this document in 2 parts; the heading is on page 4 and Charles Dorr, my 5th Great Grandfather is listed on page 5 of 13.  I’m not fluent in German so accept my apologies for not translating the document.

The second line on Image 2 is the listing for Charles Dorr.

This places Charles Dorr in Rowan County, NC in the year 1779 and at that time still using the German spelling of his surname. Sometime after this date the surname was anglicized from the German Dorr to Dry.
