Sunday’s Obituary~Sarah Johnson McRae

Chesterfield, Feb. 17 –Mrs. Sarah J. McRae of the Zoar section of the county died last Wednesday morning and was buried the next day at the Methodist church at McFarlane, N.C. , the funeral services being conducted by her pastor, The Rev. J. H. West of Morven, N.C., assisted by the Rev. J. L. Tyler.
Mrs. McRae was born in Chester county in 1835. Soon after her birth her parents moved to Anson county, North Carolina, where in 1865 she was married to Duncan McRae. Soon after their marriage they moved near McFarlane, N. C. Of this union eight children were born Mrs. Eliza Ratliff, Mrs. W. A. Stegall, Duncan McRae, W. G. McRae of McFarlane, N.C, J. H. McRae of Clio, the Rev. W. V. McRae of the North Carolina Conference, Methodist Episcopal church, South, stationed at Wilmington, N.C., Mrs. R. E. Rivers and Mrs. W. J. Tiller of Chesterfield. Mrs. McRae was a most estimable Christian woman.

Sarah Johnson, wife of Duncan McRae, was the daughter of Archibald & Sarah MacPHERSON Johnson.
