It’s Family Time~David Richard Davis and Mary Cornelia McNair Family
David Richard Davis was born 4 August 1825, a son of William Davis and Julia Thurman. About 1858, at age 33, he married Mary Cornelia McNair, the daughter of Alexander McNair and Catherine McMillan. Mary Cornelia was their first born daughter arriving in February 1835.
David Richard Davis and Mary Cornelia McNair had a large family of 10 siblings; 7 daughters and 3 sons. Several of their children died young; their children are:
i. Margaret J. Davis was born in 1859 and died before 1870 at the age of 11.
ii. Eugenia Cordelia Davis, born Sep 1862; married Henry Perkins Davis, 25 Dec 1879; died 21 Jun 1898.
iii. Julia C. Davis was born in about 1865.
iv. Mary Elizabeth Davis, born 1867; married William A. Sellers, 1889; died in 1937.
v. John C. Davis was born in 1869; died before 1900.
vi. Flora V. "Mitt" Davis was born on 4 Sep 1870; died 8 September 1939.
vii. William McNair "Mack" Davis, born 18 Mar 1872; married Mary E. Meehan, 14 Aug 1912; died 21 Jul 1916.
viii. Ida Isabelle Davis, born 8 Apr 1874; married Lewis Maxie Jones, 1902; died 5 Oct 1935, Lake Wales, Polk, Florida,
ix. Alfred Thomas Davis was born in 1877; in 1930 census living in Charleston, SC; no further information found.
David Richard passed away in January 1892 followed by his loving wife, Mary, in December 1900. They are buried in the Sowell Cemetery, Chesterfield County, South Carolina.
David Richard Davis is my 1st Cousin 4 times removed.
