Treasure Chest Thursday~Warranty Deed Glass to Brown

Today's posting is a Land Deed between sisters; Nannie (Brown) Glass and her Husband A. P. Glass of Limestone, Texas to Mollie and Lizzie Brown of Union County, Arkansas.

The three Brown sisters are daughters of Epps Rivers Brown and Dorinda Adair. Their father, Epps Rivers Brown, had passed away back in 1882 and their mother has passed away since then.

                         Know all men by these presents that I Nannie Glass joined by her husband A. P. Glass of the County of Limestone State of Texas for and in consideration of the sum of One Dollars to me in hand paid by Mollie & Lizzie Brown of Union County and State of Arkansas, have granted sold and conveyed, and by these presents do grant sell and convey unto the said Mollie & Lizzie Brown of the County of Union State of Arkansas all my rights of Dower in & to the following lands lying in the County of Union, State of Arkansas to wit:

  • N.W ¼ of NE ¼ Sec 8 T17 R14 – 40
  • S1/2 of NE ¼ Sec 8 T17 R14 – 80
  •  SE ¼             Sec 8 T17 R14 – 160
  •  N ½ of NE ¼ Sec 8 T17 R14 – 80
Containing 360 acres of land more or less
with all the improvements thereon. To have and to hold the above described premises together with all and singular the rights appurtenances thereto in anywise belonging unto the said Mollie & Lizzie Brown and unto their heirs and assigns forever and I do hereby bind my heirs executors and administrators to warrant and forever defend all and singular the said premises unto the said Mollie [and] Lizzie Brown their heirs and assigns against every person whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof.
Witness my hand on this 13th day of February A D 1892.

             Before me J. H. Welch Justice of the Peace & Ex Officia Notary Public in and for Limestone County Texas, on this day personally appeared A. P. Glass to me well known to be the person whose name is subscribed to the foregoing instrument and acknowledged to me that he had executed the same for the purposes and consideration therein expressed.
         Given under my hand and Seal of Office this 13 day of Feb. A D 1892.

             Before me J. H. Welch a Justice of the Peace & Ex Officia Notary Public personally appeared Mrs. Nannie Glass wife of A. P. Glass and known to me, to be the person whose name is subscribed to the foregoing instrument and having been examined by me privily and apart from her husband and having the same fully explained to her the said Nannie Glass acknowledged such instrument to be her act and deed and declared that she had willingly Signed the same for the purposes and consideration therein expressed and that she did not wish to retract it.
         Given under my hand and seal of Office this 13th day of Feby A D 1892.
