Wm. M. Hurst & wife to Samuel Powell Deed

The State of South Carolina.
Know all men by these presents that we William M. Hurst and wife Mary E. Hurst of the County of Chesterfield in the State aforesaid for and in  consideration of one hundred dollars to us paid by Samuel Powell of the  County of Chesterfield in the State aforesaid have granted bargained Sold and released and by these presents do grant bargain sell and release unto the said Samuel Powell all that certain piece parcel or tract of land Situate and being in the County of  Chesterfield in the State aforesaid on the waters of Abrams Creek and contains Fifty seven acres more or less (the said being the one-half part of a tract which was allowed to the said William M. Hurst and wife Mary E. Hurst in the division of the Estate of the late Thompson B. Powell deceased) and bounded as follows: - Beginning at a Pine 3X0 and runs N. 65 W 39 chs to a Stake 3Xn by a pine Station (dead) Then N. 28 E. 30 chs to a Stake 3Xn Then S. 26 E. 48 chs and 25 links to the beginning – together with all and singular the rights members hereditaments and  appurtenances to the said premises belonging or in any wise incident or appertaining to have  and to hold all and Singular the premises before mentioned unto the said Samuel Powell his heirs and assigns forever. And we do hereby bind ourselves our heirs Executors and Administrators to warrant and forever defend all and Singular the said premises unto the said Samuel Powell his heirs and assigns against ourselves and our heirs and against every person whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof.
In witness whereof we hereunto set our hands and seals this the 7th of April 1873 in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Seventy Three.

The above plat represents a Tract of land, conveyed by William M. Hurst and wife Mary E. to Samuel Powell Containing Fifty sever (57) acres and bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a Pine 3X0 and runs N. 65 W 39 chs to a Stake 3Xn by a pine Station (dead) Then N. 28 E. 30 chs. to a Stake 3Xn Then S. 26 E. 48 chs and 25 links to the beginning Situate in the County of Chesterfield in the State aforesaid and hath such shape marks and boundaries as above represented.

On 7 April 1873, W. M. Hurst and Wife Sold to Samuel Powell, 57 acres of land allocated to William M. Hurst and his wife Mary E. [Powell] Hurst in the division of the estate of the late Thompson B. Powell. Thompson Powell died before 11 June 1866 according to the probate his estate.

This Deed took place in April 1873 and Samuel Powell was available to execute the transaction. However, I have yet to find any other mention of Samuel Powell in Chesterfield County, South Carolina.
