Adam Drye was the son of George M. Drye and Mary ‘Polly’ Sides. Adam and Elizabeth Layton were married about 1850.

Adam Dry and Elizabeth Layton had the following children:
        i.    Moses Adam Dry, born 20 Oct 1850, Stanly County, North Carolina; married Diana Hall, 5 Oct 1893; married M. Frances Peeples, abt 1884; died 11 Sep 1938.
         ii.    Green Martin Dry, born 25 Apr 1853, Stanly County, North Carolina; married Laura Belvidera Meyers, 9 Sep 1886, Stanly County, North Carolina; died 10 Jan 1937, Albemarle, Stanly, North Carolina.
         iii.    George E. Dry, born 15 Jul 1855, Stanly County, North Carolina; married Diana Hall, 17 Oct 1886, Stanly County, North Carolina; died 18 Feb 1890.
         iv.    Richard A. Dry was born on 25 Jun 1857 in Stanly County, North Carolina. He died on 25 Jun 1857 at the age of 0 in Stanly County, North Carolina.
         v.    John Rufus Dry, born 6 Jul 1861, Stanly County, North Carolina; married Lucy Victoria Sides, 29 Dec 1886, Cabarrus County, North Carolina; died 26 Oct 1946.
         vi.    Julia A. F. Dry, born 14 May 1866, Stanly County, North Carolina; married William Lee. Harris, 22 Apr 1888, Stanly County, North Carolina; died 9 Jan 1956.

After the death of his 1st wife in 1905, Adam Dry and Sarah A. Burleson were married on 11 Sep 1906 in Albemarle, Stanly, North Carolina. Sarah A. Burleson, daughter of Joseph Burleson, was born on 4 Aug 1848 in Stanly County, North Carolina. She died on 19 Dec 1916 at the age of 68 in Stanly County, North Carolina.

Adam Drye is my 1st Cousin 4 times removed.
