It’s Family Time~Martha Deese Melton

Martha Deese was born in Mar 1831, the first born child of Samuel Deese and Sarah “Sallie” Hill of Anson County, North Carolina.

Martha Deese married Alexander Melton in 1859.

Alexander Melton, son of Robert Melton and Harriett, was born 1839 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina.  He was a farmer. To this marriage were borne 6 children with only 3 still living when the Census was taken in 1900. Martha Deese Melton stated that she had been married 41 years with 6 children 3 of whom were living. Martha did not state that she was a Widow; yet, Alexander Melton has not been found after 1880.

Martha died 9 Apr 1915 at the age of 84 in Wadesboro, Anson, North Carolina.  She was buried on 10 Apr 1915 in Anson County, North Carolina. It is not known when Alexander Melton passed away.

Alexander Melton and Martha Deese had the following children:

        i.    Virginia Melton was born about 1865 in Anson County, North Carolina.
ii.    Sarah Melton was born about 1869 in Anson County, North Carolina.
iii.    Rebecca Melton, born abt 1871, Chesterfield County, South Carolina; married Joseph Bishop; died 12 Nov 1966, Morganton, Burke, North Carolina.

Even though Martha stated that she had borne 6 children; I have only found 5 of these children.
