It’s Family Time~The Two Families of Henry Davis, Sr.

Henry Davis Sr. was born on 16 Oct 1795 in Marion District, South Carolina. He served in the War of 1812 enlisted on 30 Oct 1814. He died on 2 Apr 1863 at the age of 67 in Marion District, South Carolina.

Henry Davis Sr. was twice married. His first wife, Mary Ann Heustess, died on 14 Jan 1849 at the age of 47 when a double Boiler Explosion occurred onboard the Steamboat "Richland" causing it to sink in the Pee Dee River.

Henry and Mary Ann were married on 1 Jul 1824 in Marion District, South Carolina. 

Henry Davis and Mary Ann Heustess had the following child:

        i.    Martha W. Davis was born on 15 Apr 1829 in Marion District, South Carolina. She died on 26 Aug 1832 at the age of 3 in Marion District, South Carolina.

Henry Davis Sr. next married Mary Elizabeth Bostick on 17 Oct 1850. Mary Elizabeth Bostick was born on 28 Sep 1831.  

Henry Davis and Mary Elizabeth Bostick had the following children:

        i.    Henry Davis Jr. was born on 1 Oct 1851 in Marion District, South Carolina.
         ii.    David Bemzon Davis, born 5 Jun 1853, Marion District, South Carolina; married Ittelaine Harrel; died 19 Sep 1899, Marion District, South Carolina.
         iii.    John Calhoun Davis was born on 3 Apr 1855 in Marion District, South Carolina.
         iv.    Preston Brooks Davis was born on 15 Feb 1857 in Marion District, South Carolina.
         v.    Benjamin F. Wardland Davis was born on 11 Jan 1859 in Marion District, South Carolina
         vi.    Keziah Elizabeth Davis was born on 1 Feb 1861 in Marion District, South Carolina. She died on 10 Mar 1863 at the age of 2 in Marion District, South Carolina.
         vii.    Joseph Francis Davis was born on 13 Apr 1863 in Marion District, South Carolina. He died about 1910 at the age of 47 in North Carolina.


Henry Davis, Sr. died on 2 Apr 1863 at the age of 67. His 2nd wife, Mary Elizabeth died on 4 Aug 1880 at the age of 48 in Marion County, South Carolina. Henry and Mary Elizabeth are buried in Mount Zion Cemetery, Pamplico, Florence County, South Carolina.

Henry Davis, Sr. is my 2nd Cousin 5 times removed.
