Its Family Time~The Andrew Jackson Sellers Family

Andrew Jackson Sellers was born on 27 Apr 1879 in Anson County, NC, a son of Andrew Washington Sellers and Catherine Pinkney Wallace.

On 7 January 1907, Andrew  married Rosa Caroline 'Carrie' Lowery daughter of Joseph Alfred Lowery and  Margaret Tryphenia Rivers.

Between September 1912 and 1920 Andrew and Carrie moved from Union County, NC to Norfolk, Virginia.

Andrew and Carrie had two children, born in Union County, before their moved to Norfolk. The youngest child, a son, was born 12 September 1912. Sadly at age 16 this child, Russell, was injured in an accident and passed away.

Obituary: Mr. Russell S. Sellers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew J. Sellers, of Richmond, Va, formerly of Chesterfield, died at his home in Richmond, Va, April the 7th at 9:30 PM. Russell was about 17 years old and has been in invalid since last July, having been injured while at work at that time. He leaves to mourn his death his father and mother and one sister, Mrs. Wayne Sykes, and a large number of relatives. His remains were brought to Pageland, Tuesday the 9th, for burial. Russell was a bright and loving boy and bore his sickness like a man. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed in his home and with his friends Mrs. J. F. Wallace. [The Chesterfield Advertiser, April 18, 1929, page 9, col. 5].

Eight years after losing her son Russell, Carrie lost her husband on 26 October 1937.

Their Daughter Edna Tryphenia Sellers married Wayne Sykes as noted in the above obituary. Rosa Caroline 'Carrie' Lowery Sellers remarried after the death of Andrew to a Mr. Harris. I have not yet found who she married but she passed away in Sept 1965 according to a FindAGrave memorial.

Andrew Jackson Sellers, Carrie and their son Russell are buried in the First Baptist Church Cemetery, Pageland, Chesterfield County, South Carolina per the above mentioned FindAGrave Memorial.
