It’s Family Times~The Family of Leah Dry House

Leah Dry was born on 11 Jan 1810 in Cabarrus  County, North Carolina, the firstborn child of John F. Dry and Elizabeth Meisenheimer. The growth of the family reached its apex in 1834 with the addition of Monroe.

During that time the family moved from Cabarrus County, NC to Perry County, Illinois.
Leah Dry was twice married. On 28 April 1828, Leah Dry married a young man called Weston Jenks in Cabarrus County, NC.

I found their marriage bond stating that this marriage took place; but, very little information beyond the marriage. John F. Dry the father of Leah Dry is named Bondsman for this marriage.  

On 2 November 1852, Leah Dry married a widower, Jacob House, whose wife Elizabeth “Betsy” Freeze had passed away on 6 Jul 1852. To this union was born one child, a son.  

i.    Thomas Roland House, born 14 Jul 1854, Perry County Illinois; married Sarah Lipe; died 18 Mar 1938, Perry County Illinois.

Jacob House passed away on 7 October 1875 and was buried in the House Cemetery, Perry County, Illinois. Leah Dry House died 5 March 1891 and was buried in the Nine Mile Cemetery, Sunfield, Perry County, Illinois.

Leah Dry House is my 2nd Cousin 4 times removed.
