It’s Family Time~The William Washington Eddins Family

William W. Eddins was born  3 November 1863, a son of Joseph Columbus Eddins, Sr.  and Matilda Ann Tice of  Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. He was eight of eleven children borne to William and Matilda Eddins.

Martha E. Previtte was born on 5 Sep 1863, a daughter of John Washington Previtte and Elisabeth “Bette” Davis.  in Anson County, North Carolina. She was the third of eleven children borne to John W. and Elizabeth “Bette” Previtte.

William Washington Eddins and Martha E. Previtte were married in 1882 based on information contained in the 1900 census for Chesterfield County, South Carolina.
Married 18 years 5 children 4 living;.

William Washington Eddins and Martha E. Previtte had the following children:

i. Female Infant Eddins died and buried on 2 Sep 1888 at the age of 0 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina, United States.
ii. Fanny J. Eddins was born on 29 Jul 1889 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married Hezekiah Smith; died 23 November 1865, Rocky Mount, Nash, North Carolina.
iii.
Ila Violet Eddins was born in Oct 1891 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married Jasper Jackson Watts; died 23 July 1971, Concord, Cabarrus, North Carolina.
iv. Henry Thomas Eddins, born 3 Sep 1893, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married Sally Teal; died 20 Sep 1956, Charlotte, Mecklenburg, North Carolina.
v.
William Benjamin Eddins was born in Oct 1898 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married Jessie Viola Kiker; died April 1975, Charleston, South Carolina.

William Washington Eddins died on 20 May 1924 at the age of 60 in Anson County, North Carolina and was buried on 21 May 1924 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.

Martha E. Previtte Eddins died on 21 Apr 1934 at the age of 70 in Wadesboro, Anson, North Carolina and was buried on 23 Apr 1934 at Zoar UMC Cemetery in  Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.

Mrs. W. W. EDDINS - Mrs. Martha Privett Eddins, widow of the late W. W. Eddins, died at her home on the White Store road last Saturday night. The funeral was held Monday by Rev. W. H. Moore at Zoar church, in Chesterfield County, and interment was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Eddins was a daughter of the late John Privett, and was born in Chesterfield County 71 years ago. She had lived in Anson County for many years. She was an excellent Christian woman and had been a member at Zoar church since girlhood. She was a good neighbor and had a large circle of friends. Many funeral designs showed the esteem in which she was held. She is survived by two sons and two daughters. [The Messenger and Intelligencer, 26 April 1934, page 5.]



Martha E. Previtte Eddins is my Great Grand Aunt. She is a sister to my Great Grandmother Mary Hulda Previtte Purvis.
