CHARLOTTE MAN DIES IN RICHMOND.
Charlotte Observer.
A. J. Huneycutt, for more than 35 years a locomotive engineer on the local yards of the Southern railway, died last night at 7 o'clock in Richmond, Va.. according to a message received in Charlotte last night by relatives. Mr. Hunneycutt, who was 68 years of age, had resided in this city practically his entire life, moving here from Stanly county with his parents. For forty years or more he had been employed by the Southern railway, He retired from active railroad service about four years ago on account of feeble health. During the past year he has made his home with his, sister, Mrs. Edward Riglr [Rigler] of 503 North Brevard Street, who has been at his bedside in Richmond since last week. Mr. Huneycutt went to Richmond three weeks ago to visit his son, Joe F. Huneycutt of that city, and while enroute to his home last week Mr. Huneycutt suffered a stroke of paralysis. He was taken back to Richmond, where he passed away last evening. The deceased is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. G. M. Bresendine, another sister, Mrs. T. M. Oxenham, of Richmond, and a wide circle of relatives in Mecklenburg county and in other parts of the state. Funeral arrangements had not been completed last night. It is probable that the body will be brought today to Charlotte, where the funeral and interment will occur. Mr. Huneycutt had been a member of the Trinity Methodist Church since it was established.
Note-- Mr. Huneycutt was a grandson of the late Andrew Huneycutt, of western Stanly, and had a host of relatives in this county, where he was well-known. The News-Herald.
Andrew Jackson Huneycutt was born 14 August 1853 a son of Tobias A. Huneycutt and Elizabeth Miriam “Mary Ann” Huneycutt. Andrew Jackson married Mary Ann Kendrick on 27 Jun 1878 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
Andrew Jackson Huneycutt is my 1st Cousin 3 Times Removed.
