The Marriage of Adam Eli Harkey and Barbara Dry

My 1st Cousin 5 times removed Barbara Dry was born 19 January 1812 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. She was a daughter and 5th born child of Phillip Wiley Dry and Catherine Köppel. She had three known brothers and a sister; but, there may be other unknown children.

Barbara Dry married Adam Eli Harkey on 7 October 1831 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. After the birth of seven known children, Adam and Barbara Harkey moved their family to Arkansas.

In 1850, they are enumerated in the Cabarrus County census; then in 1860, they can be found in Chickalah, Yell County, Arkansas.

Eli Harkey served his county with the 3rd Arkansas Cavalry and died while serving in Little Rock Arkansas on 4 November 1864. He is buried in Little Rock National Cemetery.

His Widow, Barbara Dry Harkey, passed away on 6 August 1880 in Yell County, Arkansas. She is buried in the Elizabeth Hall Cemetery, Logan County, Arkansas.

Barbara Dry Harkey is my 1st Cousin 5 times removed.
