One Sow and Six Pigs

I have seen a lots of uses throughout my years of research for land deeds.  I have seen them used to record Marriage Contracts, Loans and Liens against property, the Selling of Human Property, Power of Attorney and various other uses but, this Land Deed is the first I have found where one party paid for the purchase of and Land with a sow and six pigs.

Chesterfield County
             Know all men by these presents That I Chas. D. Boan of the State and County aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of One Sow and Six Pigs to me in hand paid by Andrew J. Crowley of the County and State aforesaid, have granted bargained sold (pg 729) and released and by these presents do grant bargain sell and release unto the said A. J. Crowley all that piece parcel and lot of land situated lying and being in the County and State aforesaid and on the waters of the Rising Stick containing ten acres more or less and bounded as follows to wit North and West by lands of the said A. J. Crowley South by lands of the said C. D. Boan here with all and singular  the rights hereditaments and appurtenances to the premises belonging or in anywise incident or appertaining To Have and To Hold all and Singular the Rights and Appurtenance before mentioned unto the said A. J. Crowley his heirs and assigns forever and I do hereby bind myself each and every one of my heirs executors and administrators to warrant and forever defend all and singular the Premises before mentioned unto the said A. J. Crowley his heirs and assigns against my heirs and assigns against my heirs and against all other persons lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof. Witness my Hand and seal this -----------
The above mentioned piece of land lying in a  V  and the Ve Pointing North West and the other line runs from one point to the other of the Ve

There's another oddity with this particular land deed and that is it’s date.  Other than the recording date (21 April 1904) the only other date on the Deed is 1880:
