The Death of Catherine McRae Beeman

Catherine McRae was the daughter of Christopher and Genet McRae of Anson County, NC. She was born Nov. 9, 1805 in Anson County, North Carolina. Her mother, Genet, died at some point before 14 December 1820. On that date Christopher McRae entered into a “Marriage Contract” with a lady called Patsy Cooley. Said contract can be found in Anson County Deed Book “Z”, page  374 and 375.

“That whereas a marriage is shortly intended to be had and solemnized Between the said Christopher McRae and Patsy Cooley- and he being desirous to secure to the said Patsy Cooley an adequate support and maintenance which the said Patsy Cooley agrees to accept in full satisfaction for her claim to dower and distributive share of said Christopher McRae personal estate which is significant by the said Patsy Cooley becoming a party to this deed.”

Catherine McRae met Parks Beeman in Anson County, North Carolina and then married him on 10 August 1826 in Anson County

Parks Beeman was a Drygoods Merchant in Union County, Arkansas until his death. Parks Beeman died 6 March 1873.

CATHARINE McRAE daughter of Christopher and Genet McRae born Anson Co., N.C., Nov. 9, 1805; moved to Ala.; married Parks Beeman, Aug. 10, 1826; moved to Ark. in 1844, settling in El Dorado the next year; her husband died in 1873; she died Nov. 5, 1887.

CATHARINE McRAE BEEMAN died November 5, 1887. Both, Parks and Catherine are buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery, El Dorado, Union County, Arkansas.
