The Family of Mark and Martha Caroline Dean Rivers

Mark Rivers was born on 22 Nov 1824 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. He was a son of William Rivers and Elizabeth “Betsy” Rivers.  Mark was twice married; today we will focus on his second family with wife Martha Caroline Dean. The only occupation found recorded for Mark was that of a “Cooper”. Wikipedia shows a cooper to be a person trained to make wooden casks, barrels, vats, buckets and tubs.

Mark Rivers and Martha Caroline Dean were married on 3 Jan 1867 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina.

Note: There are two different dates for the Marriage of Mark Rivers and Martha Caroline Dean recorded in his Family Bible. The first date (13 Jan 1864) cannot be correct because Annie Parker, 1st wife, did not die until 28 January 1864 according to Mark Rivers Family Bible. The marriage date to Martha Caroline (3 Jan 1867) has to be the correct date.

Martha Caroline Dean was born in Jul 1841 in Anson County, North Carolina.
