It’s Family Time~The John Richard Johnston and Sarah E. “Sallie” Davis Family

Sarah E. “Sally” Davis was born 24 January 1889 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. She was the last of ten children born to Elisha Blakely Davis and his wife Mary Jane
“Mollie” Eddins. Sarah had 3 sisters and 6 brothers that were older.

In the 1910 Census, Sarah is listed as age 30, still single and living at home; but, this was about to take a change. Between 1910 and September 1917, Sarah met, married and  divorced (assumed) a man by the name of Paul Farmer.

On 14 September 1917, Sarah E. Farmer married Harold Watson Knorr in Durham, North Carolina. Harold Knorr was a military man. On 4 September 1918, Harold Watson Knorr was hospitalized at the Army base hospital, Camp Wadsworth, Spartanburg, South Carolina. He died following an operation for inflammation of Meckels Diverticulum.1

Sarah E. “Sally” Knorr next married John Richard Johnston, a widower, on 16 February 1921 in Durham, North Carolina.

John Richard and Sally were married 37 years when John Richard passed away 16 July 1958. John Richard held several jobs in his lifetime but seem to settled down with a position as a book keeper. His death was caused by a cerebral hemorrhage.

John Richard and Sally had no children; but, there were surviving children from John Richard Johnston first marriage.

Sarah E. “Sally” Johnston lived another 34 years passing away on 22 November 1984.
