In today’s land deed we find brothers, David and [Ervin] Samuel, executing a land deed to transfer their 2/3 interest in the estate lands of their Father, Alexander Brock, to their sister, Elizabeth Brock.
This Land Deed came as a complete surprise in that Alexander Brock died before 1880 and there were 6 children born to Alexander and Timmrah White. How did the three oldest children receive the property and why were the three youngest omitted? The Mother (Timmrah) had died about 1866. Two of the other three children may have died young (not found in but 1 census) but son, Alexander was alive into the 1900’s and he should have been included in any estate settlement.

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, THAT We, Samuel Brock, and David Brock of Chesterfield County in the State aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty-five DOLLARS, to us in hand paid at and before the sealing of these presents by Elizabeth Brock and for the further consideration herein after named, in the State aforesaid (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged), have granted, bargained, sold and released , and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and release unto the said Elizabeth Brock
All our undivided interest in and to that tract of land in said State and County containing Fifty acres more or less and bounded on the North by land of Parker on the South by land of Jack Brock, on the West by Parker boys land. This deed conveying our two thirds undivided interest in said tract of land said tract of land coming to us through our father Alexander Brock.
This deed is made upon the further consideration of the love and affection we bear for our sister Elizabeth Brock.
TOGETHER with, all and singular, the Rights, Members, Hereditaments and Appurtenances too the said Premises belonging, or in any-wise incident or appertaining.

TO HAVE AND TO HOLD, all and singular, the said premises before mentioned unto the said Elizabeth Brock, her Heirs and Assigns forever.
AND we do hereby bind ourselves and our Heirs, Executors and Administrators to warrant and forever defend all and singular the said Premises unto the said Elizabeth Brock, her Heirs and Assigns, against us and our and and all persons lawfully claiming, or to claim the same or any part thereof.
