Edy Sellers was born about 1799 in South Carolina. Her parents (unproven) are Phillip Sellers, Sr. and Mary Gulledge. In the 1800 Chesterfield Census, Phillip and Mary had 2 daughters under the age of 10. In 1810, they had 4 daughters under the age of 10. By 1830, only 2 daughters under the age of 9 can be found in the Phillip and Mary (Gulledge) Sellers household.
James David Weaver was born about 1797 in South Carolina. His parents are unknown.
James David Weaver and Edy Sellers were married about 1827, probably in South Carolina. David was a widow with 4 small children; 3 daughters and a son. Edy Sellers was age 28 and never been married. David and Edy Sellers moved to Alabama before their 1st child was borne in Dallas County, Alabama in 1828. By 1840, they had relocated to Tuscaloosa County, Alabama where they remained the rest of their life.
James David and Edy (Sellers) Weaver had 5 children, all daughters.
i. Cassandra D. Weaver, born abt 1828, Alabama; married William McFerrin, 27 Dec 1846, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama; married John Marion Lanier, 8 Apr 1866, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama; died abt 1875, Mooreville, Lee, Mississippi.
ii. Louisa Caroline Weaver, born abt 1830, Tuscaloosa, Alabama; married David West; died bef 21 Dec 1869, Angelina, Texas.
iii. Mary Francis Weaver, born Oct 1832, Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa, Alabama; married William J. Loggins; died aft 15 Apr 1910, Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
iv. Nancy Ann Weaver, born 9 Sep 1833, Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa, Alabama; married John Blackman Starkey, 20 Jan 1851, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama; died 20 Oct 1914, Rose Bud, White, Arkansas.
v. Malinda Ann Weaver, born 6 Apr 1838, Tuscaloosa, Alabama; married Leonard Littleberry Battle, 18 Dec 1856, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama; died 25 Apr 1896, Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
All the above children plus the children from his first marriage are named in the Tuscaloosa County Probate Records. Unfortunately, those records are not available on line. Alabama has some strict guidelines for accessibility to their “Public Record”. They are not so public.
I have touched base was a fellow researcher (Carol Harris Migdat) who has given me permission to quote from her transcripts of these records.
James David Weaver died before 6 Jan 1868. The date 6 Jan 1868 is the date that Edy (Sellers) Weaver married Hilliard Sellers. Therefore it is assumed based on Tuscaloosa County Probate documents that Edy is a widow and is marrying a Hilliard Sellers on this date.

Administrator’s Sale.
By virtue of an order of sale, granted to me by the Honorable Judge of Probate for Tuscaloosa County, I will sell, on SATURDAY, SEPT. 3d, at the late residence of David Weaver, dec., to the highest bidder, for cash, all the Personal Property belonging to said deceased.
And on MONDAY, SEPT. 5th. before the -------County between the usual hours of sale, will be sold the lands belonging to said Estate, subject to Widow’s dower lying in said county, and described as follows, to-wit: --N.E. Fraction East of River, Sec. 20, Town. 20, range 8, west. and the SW 1/4 of SE 1/4 of Section 21, Town. 20, Range 8, west.
Terms of sale for the land, ONE HALF CASH, the remainder on credit of 12 months, with note and approved security.

Edy Sellers Administrator of said estate having this day filed her application in writing and under oath, praying for an order and proceedings to sell certain Real Estate in said petition described, the property of said decedent at the time of his death for the purpose of Division. And it appearing from an inspection of said petitions, that the only heirs of said deceased are the Petitioner, Belinda Battle wife of Berry Battle, Mary Loggins wife of Wm Loggins of full age and reside in Tuscaloosa & State of Alabama & George Weaver, W. Weaver of full age, [a son ??] residing in Jefferson Co. Ala. And Nancy Starkie wife of John Starkie of full age and reside in the state of Miss. Itawamba County Cessandra Marion wife of John Marion residing in the State of Miss. of full age, Margaret Kyser wife of Wm. Kyser reside at Little Rock in the state of Arkansas of full age, Malinda Wallace wife of Asa Wallace resides in the County of Fayette Alabama. The heirs of Caroline West wife of David West who died in Texas, to wit: William, George, David, Thomas, & Isaac West ages not known, Heirs of Ruhama Wallace, wife of Littleton Wallace, all reside in the County of Fayette Alabama as follows, Asa & Daniel Wallace of full age, Edy, Caroline, Jacob, William & Jane Wallace, the last under 21 years of age.

Edy (Sellers)(Weaver) Sellers died before 7 January 1876.
These two notices appeared in the Tuscaloosa Weekly Times, Tuscaloosa, Alabama on 2 February 1876.
