52 Cousins~Capt. Willaim A. Earnhart

William A. Earnhart was born about 1839 in Bedford County, Tennessee. He was a son of  Benjamin Earnhart and Harriett McIntosh. His parents had migrated from Rowan County, NC to Bedford County, Tennessee about 1812.

Here is a statement that his grandfather George made to receive a pension.

In an affidavit, dated 26 April 1836, for a Revolution War Pension, George Earnhart stated that he remained [in NC] after the Revolution until about 24 years ago [1812]. I removed into Bedford County State of Tennessee near Shelbyville where I lived about seven years [till 1819] and then removed into this County where I have lived ever since and where I now live [Madison County, Tenn.].

William A. Earnhart served during the Civil war with the Northern Army, Company "C" 5th Tenn. His discharge is recorded in a Bedford County Deed Book  for 1865 & 1866, page 372. I have seen a lot of differenst transactions in Land Deeds but this is the first Civil War or any War Discharge.

This is the URL for the discharge:

On William A Earnhart's U.S., Civil War Pension Index: General Index to Pension Files, 1861-1934 it shows that William A. Earnhart filed for a pension on 25 Jan 1896 in Missouri and that his wife Eliza [LNU], Widow, filed for a Pension on 13 May 1897 in Tenn. https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/1865648:4654.  This world seem to indicate to me the William A. Earnhart died between on 25 Jan 1896 and 13 May 1897.

W. A. Earnhart CSA Pension Card

Other than this pension application naming Eliza as his Widow I have not found any other record that shows Mary A. Nichols having passed  away. Nor have I found any document that show William A. Earnhart remarried to a lady named Eliza. If his Civil War pension is on line; I have not been able to find it.

William A Earnhart is my 2nd Cousin, 4X Removed.
