52 Cousins~ The Holden & Margaret (Cook) Barrett Family

Margaret Cook is my 1st Cousin 6 times removed. She was born abt 1797, a daughter of Daniel Cook, Sr. and Ruth Moultrie. She was the 5th of 12 siblings; she had 7 brothers and 4 sisters.

Her father Daniel Cook, Sr. served in the war of 1812 and died sometime near 1814. Shortly after his death, her Mother Ruth (Moultrie) Cook moved the family across country to the Cumberland gap area settling in Trigg County, Kentucky. On 9 Oct 1816, Ruth’s son Joseph Moultrie Cook married Martha "Patsy" Lindsay in Trigg County.

About 1816, Margaret Cook and Holden Barrett were also married. Holden Barrett was an Anson County boy born in 1796. He was a son of Thomas Barrett and his wife Jane [LNU]. No information has been found on when or where they were married; but, Margaret (Cook) Barrett gave birth to twin daughters on 12 July 1817 in Anson County, North Carolina.

By 1829, Holden and Margaret Barrett had moved to Kentucky to join her Mother Ruth and brother Joseph Moultrie Cook and other siblings.
