52 Cousins~Aurilla Jane (Sellers) Wallace

Aurilla Jane Sellers was born on 2 Aug 1869, a daughter of Andrew Washington Sellers and his wife Catherine Pinkney Wallace of Chesterfield County, South Carolina.

Henry A. Wallace was born on 12 Sep 1853 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.

He first appeared in the 1880 Chesterfield County Census with a young bride, age 16, called Sarah [LNU].

1880 CENSUS: Cheraw, Chesterfield, South Carolina; NARA microfilm publication T9, Roll: 1225; Enumeration District: 002; Page: #287A; Line: #46; Dwelling: #525, Family: #529; Henry WALLACE, Male, Head, age 25, Farm Labor, born in NC and Sarah WALLACE, Wife, age 16, born in SC.

By 1891, we know that Henry A. Wallace has married Aurilla Jane Sellers, a daughter of Andrew Washington Sellers and his wife Catherine Pinkney Wallace of Chesterfield County, South Carolina. Their fist-born, a son, Herbert Rosel Wallace, arrived on 6 April 1893. Sarah [LNU] is nowhere to be found so it is assumed she passed away.

Aurilla Jane Sellers and Henry A. Wallace were married about 1891 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina,

Henry A. Wallace and Aurilla Jane Sellers had the following children:

i. Herbert Rosel Wallace was born on 6 Apr 1893 in Cheraw, Chesterfield, South Carolina.

ii. Jesse Colton "Jay C." Wallace was born on 29 Apr 1895 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina.

After the birth of two children, Aurilla Jane (Sellers) Wallace died abt 1895/96 at the age of 26.

The Sellers History by Kate (Sellers)(Eddins)Kimery provided a specific date, but it was not sourced.

SOURCE: Sellers History written by Ella Katherine (Kate) Sellers, Eddins, Kimery.

Now, Henry has lost two wives in a very short period of time. He never remarried after losing Rilla Jane.

We can see in the 1900 Census that the two children and their dad, Henry A. Wallace are living in the household of Andrew Washington Sellers and his wife Catherine Pinkney Wallace of Chesterfield County, South Carolina.

1900 CENSUS: Wolf Pit, Richmond County, North Carolina; Roll: 1213;   Enumeration District: 99; FHL microfilm: 1241213; Page: 11A/163(stamped); Line 34, Dwelling 195, Family 195; Andrew W.
