Charlie, would you say Dr Alva Brock came from an upper class family? I am wondering because he had the education and finances to attend college when many people at that time did not.
ReplyDeleteColleen,
ReplyDeleteYes. His Father Peter Haley Brock was a very prosperous Merchant in the town of Cheraw. Unfortunately, his wife Mary Ellen Lyles died unexpectedly in June 1902 and I find no record that the youngest daughter was able to attend College. She was born in March 1893.Peter died in Apr 1919.
